| Mom. Serial entrepreneur. Definite Type-A personality.
That’s me in a nutshell. After graduating with a Business Honors degree in 2000, I opened a furniture store with friends in Toronto and was immediately bitten by the entrepreneurial bug. Since then I have known I would never be happy building someone else’s business when I could be building my own. After leaving the furniture store to pursue Internet Marketing in 2002, I began working with other entrepreneurs to help them create their websites, launch online newsletters and put together marketing campaigns. In 2005 I started my first retail website, Pipsqueak Boutique as a testing ground to learn the ins and outs of SEO and other web promotion techniques. In 2006 my husband and welcomed our son and 17 short months later our daughter made the family complete. The role of mother quickly became my greatest – and most frustrating – challenge to date. I wanted more time to spend at home with them and set out to revamp my business again. Amidst the chaos of two small children I decided to expand the small online baby boutique I had started in 2005 to include my own product lines. It was a long time in the making but in 2009 I officially launched Define*Me Clothing which is a line of personalized onepieces and tees for kids age newborn to 4T. That same year I also launched Bella Photo Jewelry where I offer my handmade photo necklaces and gifts. For the past year I have been applying everything I learned about Internet Marketing and Public Relations (PR) to my own businesses. As I watch them grow, I want to share what has worked for me with other mompreneurs to help them succeed. This is my story. What’s yours? I would love to hear about your business and what led you to become a mompreneur. Contact Me and tell me about yourself and what you do. |
